We spent the last week of summer in beautiful southwestern Michigan. Casey was taking a class and we all tagged along for the adventure: me, the boys, my folks, and our good friend, Liz. He claims it's actually easier when we are with him, however, I really don't know how he gets anything done! We are not a quiet group.
Lake Michigan is absolutely beautiful, and only five-ish hours away! Who knew? The beaches were pristine, with fine, white, white sand; the water that lovely turquoise blue you find in the Caribbean. But only five-ish hours from home! And since we visited after peak season, we had it all to ourselves.
The colors of the water and sky were breathtaking. Due to scattered storms, we got to experience some fairly dramatic changes in the lake the week we were there. A highlight for me was an eight mile run with Liz along the beach and through the neighborhoods in St. Joseph. With dark clouds cruising across the sky, wind whipping the water into waves big enough to crash over the pier, it was an adventure run like I hadn't had in a long time. Exhilarating. Made me feel young. Ha.
But, enough rambling. I really just wanted to post a few pictures to prove that Lake Michigan is much prettier and cleaner than Lake Erie. And just five or so hours away from those of you who live in western PA. Simply for your information.
